Slade Stops 14 Shots, but CC Stumbles on the Road to Cabrini

   
Natalie Slade finished with 14 saves, but the Colorado College women's lacrosse team dropped a 21-12 result at Cabrini University on Saturday afternoon.

Slade was stellar during the first 30 minutes when she steered aside 10 shots, but the Cavaliers pulled away in the second half when they out-shot CC, 24-9.

The junior goaltender stopped double-digit shots for the seventh time this season.

Tobin Lonergan led the Tigers with five points on three goals and a pair of assists. It marked the fifth time this season the first-year attacker recorded five or more points in a game.

Caroline Shay also scored three goals, which matched her season high.

Colorado College started strong, scoring three of the first four goals to build a 3-1 lead with 6:28 remaining in the first quarter.

Cabrini answered with a 4-0 run to build a two-goal advantage during the first minute of the second quarter, but the Tigers answered with markers from Shat and Lonergan to tie the score at 5-5.

After the Cavaliers added three in a row, Lonergan and Bella Scola scored to pull CC to within 7-6 after 20 minutes.

The Tigers were within 13-9 when Courtney Zell found the net with 52 seconds remaining in the third quarter, but Cabrini scored 15 seconds later to ignite an 8-1 run that sealed the victory.     

The Cavaliers launched 25 total shots, compared to 22 for Colorado College.

Cabrini won 22 of 37 draw controls, while CC finished with a 21-18 edge in ground balls.

Dana Carlson and Olivia Little scored six goals apiece for the Cavaliers.

Sam Hamalak made five saves for Cabrini.
