The Colorado College women's tennis team suffered a 5-0 loss to Southwestern University Saturday morning in the semifinals of the 2022 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship in Kerrville, Texas.
 
The Pirates, ranked No. 5 in the West Region, jumped out to an early 3-0 lead by sweeping the three doubles matches. Nina Mitrofanova and Lydia Lee downed 
Olivia Dicks and 
Maddy Meister, 8-1, at the No. 1 position, while Alli Ziehm and Emma Kesterson beat Gigi Francis and Sierra Thomas at No. 2 by the same score. Lauren Chisholm and Taylor Despriet defeated 
Christina Heffron and 
Elizabeth Girian, 8-2, at the No. 3 spot to complete the sweep.
 
Kesterson captured the No. 3 singles match, 6-0, 6-1, over Girian, then Mitrofanova beat Heffron, 6-2, 6-0, at the top spot to clinch the team match for Southwestern. The other four singles matches were pulled off the court at that time.
 
The third-seeded Tigers (10-12) will face No. 4-seed University of St. Thomas in the third-place match on Sunday, May 1, beginning at 8 a.m. (MT).
