Box Score The Colorado College women's tennis team captured its best result at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship in six years with a 5-2 victory over the University of St. Thomas on Sunday in the third-place match in Kerrville, Texas.
 
The Tigers, who posted their best result at the SCAC Tournament since a third-place finish in 2016, wrapped up the 2021-22 season with an 11-12 record, the most wins in one season since the 2015-16 campaign.
 
Colorado College had to rally against the Celts on Sunday after UST won the top two doubles matches. Christina Heffron and Elizabeth Girian put the Tigers on the board with an 8-2 victory over Karissa Guzman and Regina Lopez at the No. 3 spot.
 
The Tigers roared back and completely dominated the singles matches, winning the first four off the court in straight sets. Malia Rivera opened things with a 6-2, 6-0 triumph at No. 6 over Regina Lopez, and Girian dismantled Alyssa Davila, 6-2, 6-2, at the No. 3 position.
 
Heffron followed suit by downing Anamaria Gonzalez, 6-4, 6-2, for her 12^th match of the season at the No. 1 spot, then Maddy Meister clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Alejandra Lopez at No. 2.
 
"Our team was terrific this weekend," head coach Anthony Weber said. "Our No. 3 doubles team kept us in the match today with a big win, and after struggling a bit in the other doubles matches, they came roaring back in singles. Malia picked up a big and quick win to tie us up, Elizabeth cranked out a win at No. 3, Christina put in her usual work in at No. 1, and Maddy had a big win at No. 2 to clinch." 
 
Gigi Jensen (No. 4) and Romi Hodor (No. 5) were ahead by a set when their matches were pulled.
 
 "It was a great way to cap off the year," Weber added. "I could not be more proud of this team for its accomplishments this season."
