Colorado College hockey coach Kris Mayotte announced the eight newcomers who will join the Tiger hockey program for the 2022-23 season.

"Overall, we are really happy with this year's recruiting class," Mayotte said. "Not only do I think we addressed some of our needs from a player personnel standpoint, but we also added great character and people to our culture. (Assistant coaches) Peter Mannino and Mark Stuart have done a great job identifying the right players and people who we believe will continue to build the foundation of a championship program." 
 
The Class of 2026 consists of Cade Ahrenholz (Omaha Lancers – USHL), Ryan Beck (Dubuque Fighting Saints – USHL), Nikolai Charchenko (Minot Minotauros – NAHL), Noah Laba (Lincoln Stars – USHL), Kaidan Mbereko (Lincoln Stars – USHL), Noah Serdachny (Salmon Arm Silverbacks – BCHL), Ethan Straky (Green Bay Gamblers – USHL) and Gleb Veremyev (Lincoln Stars – USHL).

"Although it isn't a huge class in terms of numbers, we believe the quality of player from top to bottom will stand out," Mayotte said.

Cade Ahrenholz Freshman Forward 6-3, 218 Lakeville, MN Omaha Lancers (USHL)

Before Colorado College: Posted 19 points (13g,6a) in 57 games for the Omaha Lancers this past season … Finished ninth on the team in points … Team captain as a senior at Lakeville South High School in '20-21 … Collected 21 goals and 19 assists for 40 points in 23 games with Lakeville his senior campaign … Notched 105 points (51g,54a) in 96 high school games.
 
Coach Mayotte's Comments: "Cade is a big body who knows how to play the game hard and get to the net. Most of his goals this past year were within five feet of the crease. He has a great compete level and a motor that allows him to impact a game, even if he doesn't find his way onto the score sheet."

 

Ryan Beck Freshman Forward 5-9, 194 Linden, MI Dubuque Fighting Saints (USHL)

Before Colorado College: Posted 46 points (9g,37a) in 53 games for the Dubuque Fighting Saints this past season … Finished third on the team in assists and fifth in points … Collected five goals and 23 assists for 28 points in 41 games with the Saints in '19-20 … Previously played for Belle Tire and Oakland Jr. Grizzlies AAA teams.
 
Coach Mayotte's Comments: "Ryan is a very gifted playmaker. His vision and skill allow him to put teammates in great spots that not many other players can. He has been a top scorer on every team he has played for, which should help our offense moving forward."

 

Nikolai Charchenko Freshman Defenseman 6-2, 210 Victoria, MN Minot Minotauros (NAHL)

Before Colorado College: Posted 12 points (3g,9a) in 60 games with the Minot Minotauros this past season … Assistant captain for the 2021-22 campaign … Collected 16 assists in 94 games with Minot the previous two seasons … Played 42 games in the Upper Midwest HS Elite League Hockey … Played in the USA Select Festival in 2018 and '19.
 
Coach Mayotte's Comments: "Nikolai brings valuable junior experience to our blue line. As a three-year junior player in Minot, he developed into a leader both in the dressing room and in the community. He has a strong defensive foundation and makes it hard for opponents by using his IQ, long reach, and strength."

 

Noah Laba Freshman Forward 6-2, 191 Northville, MI Lincoln Stars (USHL)

Before Colorado College: Fourth-round selection by the New York Rangers in the 2022 NHL Draft … Posted 39 points (15g,24a) in 50 games with the Lincoln Stars this past season … Finished sixth on the team in points and tied for fifth in goals … Collected 19 points (6g,13a) in 46 games with Lincoln during the 2020-21 campaign … Previously played for Belle Tire, Compuware and Oakland Jr. Grizzlies AAA teams.
 
Coach Mayotte's Comments: "Noah has really come on over the past couple of years and become a consistent and reliable center. He combines skating, size, and compete level with a nose for finding the back of the net.  He is just beginning to scratch the surface on the type of player he can be."

 

Kaidan Mbereko Freshman Goalie 5-11, 190 West Bloomfield, MI Lincoln Stars (USHL)

Before Colorado College: Posted an 18-11-3 record with the Lincoln Stars this past season … Finished the season with a 3.01 goals-against average and .898 save percentage … Tied for sixth in the USHL with 18 victories and 12^th in save percentage … Member of the U.S. National Developmental U17 and U18 teams … Had a 2-1 record with a 2.85 GAA and .927 save percentage in three games for Team USA at the 2021 IIHF Under-18 World Championship … Member of Team USA at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championships, which were canceled early in the tournament … Will attend the USA Hockey National Evaluation Camp in advance of the rescheduled World Junior Championships …  Selected by Lincoln with the No. 6 pick in the 2021 USHL Draft.
 
Coach Mayotte's Comments: "Kaidan is an incredibly athletic goalie. His ability to make difficult saves is impressive, but his ability to make difficult situations look easy is what sets him apart. He has a great work ethic and is someone that his teammates love to rally around. He will bring big game experience to our goaltending group."

 

Noah Serdachny Freshman Forward 6-1, 175 Edmonton, ALB Salmon Arm Silverbacks (BCHL)

Before Colorado College: Finished second on the Salmon Arm Silverbacks and ninth in the BCHL with 63 points (27g,36a) in 54 games this past season … Led the 'Backs and was fifth in the league with 19 playoff points (6g,13a) … Collected six goals and 18 assists for 24 points in 20 games with the Silverbacks in '20-21 … Amassed 146 points in four seasons with Rink Hockey Academy.
 
Coach Mayotte's Comments: "Noah is a skilled center who had two productive years in the BCHL. His size skill and IQ make him a threat anytime he has the puck. He can play all 200 feet and has the skill to make the players around him better."

 

Ethan Straky Freshman Defenseman 5-11, 178 Walnut Creek, CA Green Bay Gamblers (USHL)

Before Colorado College: Posted five points (2g,3a) in 22 games with the Green Bay Gamblers this past season … Collected 35 points (6g,29a) in 93 games with the U.S. National Developmental U17 and U18 teams … Scored a goal in five games for Team USA at the 2021 IIHF Under-18 World Championships … Played in the USA Select Festival in 2019 … Had 16 points in two seasons with the U.S. Development Team in USHL action.
 
Coach Mayotte's Comments: "Ethan didn't have the production he was hoping for this past year due to injuries. However, we think he has all of the tools to be a top defenseman in our league. He can skate, defend, and work a blue line. He has an offensive mind-set that will help our team produce more offense from the D core."

 

Gleb Veremyev Freshman Forward 6-4, 200 Sayreville, NJ Lincoln Stars (USHL)

Before Colorado College: Posted 28 points (16g,12a) in 56 games with the Lincoln Stars this past season … Finished fourth on the team in goals and 10^th in points … Collected 13 points (5g,8a) in 43 games with Lincoln during the 2020-21 campaign after 146 points in four seasons with the New Jersey Rockets AAA teams  … Had 37 goals and 37 assists for 74 points in 63 games in 2019-20, helping the Rockets to the USPHL 16U national title … Had four points (1g,3a) in five games at the USA Select Festival in 2020.
