Tigers Host San Diego State and New Mexico

TIGERS CONTINUE CONFERENCE PLAY THIS WEEK
The Colorado College women's soccer team plays a pair of Mountain West matches at home this weekend. The Tigers host San Diego State on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 6 p.m., followed by a contest against New Mexico on Sunday, Oct. 2, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Both matches will be played at Stewart Field.

LAST TIME OUT
The Tigers opened the Mountain West slate last week with a tie and loss, beginning with a 1-1 tie at Fresno State on Thursday. The Tigers struck early with a goal by Adelaide Gaffney off a pass from Jordan Darrow in the first minute of the match. Gaffney took over the team lead in scoring with her third goal of the season. The Bulldogs evened the score in the 20th minute with a goal by Sheyenne Hodge, assisted by Megan Galvan and Shantay Tamez. CC was outshot 14-7 but Ally Wakeman made five saves to preserve the tie for the Tigers. On Sunday, Tiana Cello scored the only goal in the 49th minute to lead San Jose State past CC, 1-0, at Stewart Field. After a scoreless first half, Cello took a pass from Taylor Phillips, moved down the left side and sent what looked like a cross into the box that ended up in the upper right corner of the net past Tiger goalkeeper Ally Wakeman. Colorado College had a couple of decent chances throughout the game, but could muster only one shot on goal, a left-footed chance by Kaelin Woodruff in the 30th minute that was saved by SJSU keeper Bente Pernot. They also had a header by Gracie Huebner in the 63rd minute sail just wide and a rocket from Shalom Prince in the 74th minute caromed straight off the crossbar.
