Junior Gigi Jensen and sophomore Christina Heffron opened the 2022 ITA West Region Tennis Tournament by going 1-1 in singles and doubles on Friday in Claremont, Calif.

Heffron, playing in the "A" singles flight, fell to No. 6-seed Sena Selby of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 6-2, 6-0, then downed Nina Soloyeva of Cal Tech, 6-2, 4-6, 1-0(6), in the first round of the consolation bracket.

Jensen, who is competing in the "B" flight, won her first-round match, 6-2, 6-3, over Payel Patel of Cal Tech, but fell to Kayle King of Cal Lutheran by the same score inthe second round.

Heffron and Jensen combined to win their first round doubles match, 8-2, over Brooke Waite and Olivia Desso of Chapman before losing to Ella Brissett and Audrey Yoon of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 8-5, in the Round of 16.
