The Colorado College women's volleyball team swept the University of Dallas before falling to nationally ranked Trinity in five sets in the final home matches of the 2023 season.

The Tigers opened the day with a 25-12, 25-14, 25-20 win over the Crusaders.
Carolyn Dormady and
Kellie Hopper each had a double-double with Dormady recording 13 kills and 13 digs while Hopper had 14 kills and 18 digs.
Jenny Jenks led both teams with 27 assists. CC notched 10 service aces and outhit Dallas, .333 to .074.

The Tigers never trailed in the first set. In the second, there was one lead change early in the set and the third had Dallas attempting a comeback as there were 10 ties and three lead changes but it wasn't enough.

IN the afternoon match, Colorado College won the first two sets, but fell to No. 10 Trinity, 17-25, 17-25, 25-23, 25-19, 15-4. CC is now 8-7 overall and 5-3 in the SCAC.

Three seniors played at home for the last time. Kelley Kandziora, Jenks and
Isabella Lipacis were honored in a post-match ceremony.

The Colorado Tigers took the first lead at 7-5 and increased the lead to 10-6 before Trinity was forced to call a timeout. A huge block and a service ace had CC up 14-8 before leading to another Trinity timeout. TU got as close as five points but could never overcome the lead CC built.

A close point-for-point set incapsulated the second as neither side led by more than three through the first couple of points. CC took a five-point lead at 14-8, leading to a Trinity timeout, and continued to lead and at 19-12, TU was forced to burn another timeout. The visitors scored the next four points as CC took a timeout to regroup and never look back enroute to the 25-17 win.

An early lead by Trinity had the visitors up by as much as five, 8-3, before Kandziora served five straight points for the home team, tying the set at 8-8. Trinity took a 15-11 lead before CC called a timeout and tied the match at 17-all. An attack error put Colorado College ahead, 23-21, but Trinity won the next four points to win the set.

The fourth set started like the previous three with neither side getting much of an advantage. Trinity took a quick two-point lead, but CC brought the score to within one, 7-6. Trinity took the largest lead of the set at 13-8. Back-to-back timeouts by the Tigers with the score 18-11 didn't help as Trinity increased its lead to 22-12. CC scored five straight points, forcing their opponents to call a timeout, but a serving error tied the match at two wins apiece.

The fifth and final set was close early, but Trinity proved too much and won the set easily. Â

Jenks led all players with 52 assists, putting her past the 3,000 mark for her career, the fourth player in CC history to rsach that plateau. She also is just the third player in program history to collect 3,000 kills and 1,000 digs in a career.

Kandziora had a double-double with 10 kills and 16 digs. The Tigers outhit Trinity .217 to .175 and had 11 total team blocks to Trinity's 10.

CC will play next at UC Santa Cruz on Oct 6 at 6 p.m. MT, then Christopher Newport and Mary Washington on Oct. 7 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. MT, respectively.
