Colorado College battled back and forth against the Colorado Mesa University Mavericks, but fell short in their comeback effort after the Mavs scored eight goals in the first quarter to secure a 15-9 victory on Saturday afternoon.

Ben Anastos made 13 saves for the Tigers on Saturday before
Pat Mahoney entered the game with two and a half minutes remaining. Sophomore midfielder
Avery Dysart scored his first career goal at 10:22 in response to early CMU momentum.
After
Dylan Brown scored off of a feed from
Thomas Power, the Mavs scored five consecutive times and carried their momentum through the rest of the game.
Colorado College made a push for a comeback in the the second half with two unanswered goals to start the third quarter but ultimately came up short.
Brown closed out the scoring for the Tigers at 7:22 with an unassisted goal. He led CC with 15 shots, eight shots on goal and four goals.
CMU won 15-26 faceoffs but only claimed 24 ground balls to CC's 23. The Tigers outshot the Mavs 47-43 and outcleared them 17-13.
The Tigers are set to faceoff against Muhlenberg College on Friday Feb. 24.
