Colorado College defeated Trinity University on Sunday with a 72-68 victory in Reid Arena for the first time in almost three years.
Trinity took a 14 point lead early in the first half. The Tigers battled back to take a four point lead halfway through the period but were unable to sustain it and trailed, 37-29 heading into the locker room.
Trey Crawford,
Devin Philio, and
Edgar Romero led the charge for the Tigers in the second half, and made an impact on both ends of the floor.
"I thought tonight was an incredible team effort," coach Jeff Conarroe said. "Some guys that hadn't really gotten an opportunity really stepped up for us and made a huge impact."
Crawford scored seven points in the second half and grabbed six rebounds to finish the game with 11 points and eight rebounds. Philio and Romero each earned seven points in the second half to help secure the Tiger victory.
The Tigers held Trinity to just 33% from the field and from behind the arc, well below their season averages. CC shot 47% from the field and went 9-20 from behind the arc.
"I can't say enough about how hard our guys are working on defense," Conarroe said. "To get eight blocks two nights in a row, and hold this team to the mid-30's from the field ... This is a signature win for this group and it's well earned. It's all the guys, I can't give them enough credit for how hard they're fighting and playing, really proud of their effort."
