Colorado College pulled within two goals of the John Carroll University Blue Streaks but were unable to complete the comeback and lost 13-11 on Friday night at Washburn Field.
Dylan Wells scored eight seconds into the game for the Tigers, but six unanswered goals by the Blue Streaks proved too large a deficit to overcome.
The Tigers pulled within three at the half as well as the end of the third quarter before John Carroll scored four back-to-back goals in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.
After falling behind, 4-1, early in the first quarter, Colorado College responded with three goals in two and a half minutes in the second.
John Carroll extended its lead to five to start the third with two goals before
Dylan Brown responded with 5:43 remaining to trim CC's deficit to 9-5.
Colorado College fought until the very end but
Declan Maguire's goal with 17 seconds remaining in the match proved too little, too late in the 13-11 loss.
Eli Turovsky made six saves for the Tigers in his first career start.
Ryan Trapasso led the Tigers with six ground balls.
Thomas Power picked up a trio of goals and
Luca Lietti and
Declan Maguire each had a pair.
John Gaglio made 11 saves for the Blue Streaks.
