Late Surge by St. Mary's Proves Too Much for CC

Box Score The St. Mary's Seahawks outscored Colorado College 4-1 in the final quarter in its 17-14 loss on Wednesday afternoon at Washburn Field. 

Back to back goals by Kendall Havill and a goal by Gabby Torres, built a 4-2 lead at the end of the first quarter of play for the Tigers. 

After four goals by Havill, Devon Ortman, Tobin Lonergan, and Olivia Dossett, St. Mary's responded with five unanswered goals to tie it at eight at the half. 

The Tigers and the Seahawks battled back and forth through the third quarter but the Seahawks finished the final 20 minutes with a 6-1 surge to secure the victory. 

Havill, Lonergan, and Olivia Dossett each finished with a trio of goals, Courtney Zell also struck with a pair of goals. 

The Seahawks went 6-8 on free position shots, while the Tigers went 5-9. St. Mary's launched 39 shots to CC's 30. 

Colorado College finished with an 18-16 edge in draw controls while the Seahawks finished with 22-16 advantage in ground balls.

The Tigers will take on Denison University on Friday at Washburn Field.
