Colorado College comes out on top, 14-12, after a back and forth battle against Haverford College on Sunday afternoon at Washburn Field.
Four different Tigers scored two goals:
Dylan Brown,
Luca Lietti,
Declan Maguire and
Avery Dysart and freshman attack
Andrew Tan scored his first career goal.
The Tigers struck on the opening face-off after a pass from
Ben Clarke to Lietti who connected to give CC the 1-0 lead. After the opening goal, Colorado College held the lead for the remainder of the game.
Colorado College built a 7-5 lead during the first quarter and goals by
Jack Haims, Brown and Tan gave the Tigers a 10-5 lead going into the locker room at the half.
The Fords started the third quarter with back-to-back goals but the Tigers were able to stop their momentum after a breakaway steal by Lietti and a pass to
CC Jeffers to extend the lead to 11-7.
Haverford struck for five goals in the final 15 minutes of the game, including three straight goals in six minutes, to cut CC's victory to just two points.
On the other end of the field, junior goaltender
Ben Anastos made a season-high 16 saves but the Fords finished the game with a 49-43 advantage in total shots.
Colorado College edged out Haverford 17-16 in ground balls while the Fords finished with the 15-14 advantage in face offs.
