Penalties Make the Difference in Loss to Kenyon

After getting off to a red-hot start with three unanswered goals, the Tigers fell victim to missed opportunities and late penalties and lost to the Kenyon College Owls, 18-14, on Thursday at Washburn Field.

The Tigers and Owls went back and forth for the majority of the match before Kenyon scored five unanswered goals  in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.

Dylan Brown and Makay Hansen made a comeback attempt for Colorado College off of back-to-back man-up goals to cut Kenyon's lead to three in the fourth quarter.

Any hope of a comeback by the Tigers disappeared when Kenyon scored the final goal of the match off of a turnover by Dylan Wells with 44 seconds remaining.

David Chintala led Kenyon with five goals, three of which came in the second half. Colin McCarthy scored a trio of goals and Rollins Heath scored a pair and set up two more.

The Owls finished with a 47-34 advantage in total shots and 32-30 edge in ground balls. Colorado College finished with the 19-16 face off advantage.

Ben Anastos made 13 saves for the Tigers before giving way to Cam Devlin with just under six minutes remaining in the game.

Dylan Brown and Declan Maguire led CC with a trio of goals each.
