Class of 2023 Inducted Into Athletic Hall of Fame

Five individuals and one team were inducted into the Colorado College Athletic Hall of Fame Saturday night at Ed Robson Arena Saturday night.

Jordan DeGayner '12 (men's swimming), Nick Mystrom '93 (football), Helen Sneath '06 (women's lacrosse), the 1992 men's soccer team, Leo Hill '48 (men's basketball/baseball) and Dang Pibulvech (women's soccer head coach) were enshrined as the Class of 2023.

For just the second time since 2006, the athletic department's signature event was held on campus, with nearly 200 people attending at the school's state of the art multi-purpose building.

DeGayner is the only swimmer in Colorado College history to win an individual title at the NCAA Division III National Championships. He won the 200-yard freestyle race as a senior in 2012 and still holds the school record with his winning time of 1:37.51. In addition to being named a two-time All-American, DeGayner was named to the Academic All-America first-team in 2012, second-team in 2011 and honorable mention in 2010. He also holds the school record in the 50 and 100 freestyle races and the 100 butterfly.

Mystrom holds the school record for most points scored in a career (263) and season (110 in 1993). He led the 1993 football team to an 8-1 record and was named the program's Most Valuable Player twice, in 1992 and '93. Following his time at CC, he played two seasons in the Canadian Football League with the Memphis Mad Dogs, earning a spot on the CFL all-Rookie Team in 1995. Mystrom passed away unexpectedly in 2019.

Sneath is one of only 16 athletes in Colorado College history to be named a three-time All-American.  She earned the selections in 2003, '04 and '06. Sneath finished her career in 2006 at the top of the program's career lists in assists (64), caused turnovers (99) and draw controls (144), No. 2 in ground balls (189), No. 3 in points (212) and No. 4 in goals (148). She is still in the Top 6 in all of those categories.

The 1992 men's soccer team is the only team in the program's storied history to advance to the NCAA Division III semifinals. Under legendary head coach Horst Richardson, the team posted an 18-2-2 overall record, the most wins in one season in program history. After starting the season 1-1-1, the squad rattled off a program-record 18-game unbeaten streak before falling to Ohio Wesleyan in the national semis. No less than six players from that team played either professional or semi-pro soccer following graduation.

Hill, selected by the veteran's committee, earned a pair of varsity letters in basketball and baseball during his two years at Colorado College. He was an all-conference performer in baseball and posted a .400 batting average. As a senior, he was named the winner of the Van Diest Award, given to the school's top senior athlete. Hill passed away in 2014.

Pibulvech, also selected by the veteran's committee, was the head coach of the women's soccer program from 1983-90, and produced an amazing 119-26-8 record (.804 winning percentage) during his eight years at CC. He led the Tigers to seven consecutive NCAA Division I playoff berths, including five appearances in the Final Four and the National Championship match in 1986 and 1989.
