Tigers Blank TLU at SCAC Tournament

The Colorado College women's tennis team shut out Texas Lutheran University, 5-0, on Thursday in an SCAC quarterfinal match in Georgetown, Texas.
 
The Tigers took a 3-0 lead after sweeping the doubles matches, all by an 8-2 score. Gigi Jensen and Maddy Meister defeated Elena Brancaleon and Christa Bennett at the top spot, while Magdalene Gonzales and Olivia Dicks downed Paula Acosta and Kaitlyn Enloe at No. 2. Christina Heffron and Lindsay Popeo completed the sweep over Victoria Gonzalez and Haley Hoffman at the No. 3 spot.
             
Colorado College, seeded No. 3 at the tournament, won two singles matches in straight sets to clinch the team match. Gonzales blanked Gonzalez, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 3, and Elizabeth Girian downed Enloe, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 5. The other four matches were pulled off the court at that time.
 
The Tigers will battle No. 2 seed Southwestern University in the semifinals on Saturday, April 29, beginning at 2 p.m. (MT). The Pirates defeated 7th-seeded Austin College, 5-0, on Thursday.
