Maddy Meister won the No. 5 singles match on Saturday, but the Colorado College women's tennis team fell to Division II Colorado Mesa University, 6-1, at the Elliott Tennis Center in Grand Junction, Colo.
 
The Mavericks jumped out to an early 1-0 lead by winning the Nos. 1 and 3 doubles matches. Issy Coman and Macy Richards defeated Maddy Meister and Magdalene Gonzales, 6-1, at No. 1, while Kristen Thomas and Delia Maier downed Malia Rivera and Elizabeth Girian, 6-3, at the No. 3 spot. The No. 2 match was pulled at that time.  
 
In singles play, Meister collected the Tigers' lone point of the day by rallying for a 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory over Thomas at the No. 5 position. Colorado Mesa won the other five matches, with three of them extended to three sets.
 
Julianna Campos defeated Gigi Jensen, 6-0, 2-6, 6-3 at No. 3, Delia Maier downed Girian, 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 at No. 4, while Jane Steur edged Abby Wilson, 3-6, 7-6(2), 1-0(11) at No. 6.  
 
The Tigers return to action on Thursday, April 13, against SCAC-foe Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, beginning at 4 p.m. (MT).
