The Colorado College women's soccer team set a program record with 18 of its players earning the Mountain West Scholar-Athlete Award, one of the conference's most prestigious individual honors, for completing the 2022-23 academic year with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.

"We are proud of the excellent work our student-athletes did in the classroom this past year," head coach
Keri Sanchez said. "They do so well to manage the demands of being a top student as well as a competitive soccer player. We look forward to helping them continue to achieve at a high level on and off the field."

Jordan Darrow, a political science major who graduated in May with a 3.83 grade-point average, received the honor for the fourth year in a row.

Fellow recent graduate Adelaide Gaffney (molecular biology), along with rising seniors Lily Byrne (organismal biology and ecology),
Alex Sandoval (organismal biology and ecology) and
Alexis Wessler (organismal biology and ecology) earned the distinction for the third time.

Ally Wakeman (business, economics and society), who graduated in May, rising senior Haley Harnisch (business, economics and society), and rising juniors Zahra Cheeseman (undeclared),
Kaelin Enga (undeclared),
Gracie Huebner (undeclared),
Ava Risser (undeclared) and
Kaelin Woodruff (undeclared) were recognized for the second time.

Enga is one of 164 Mountain West student-athletes to carry a 4.0 grade-point average.

Rising senior Shalom Prince (business, economics and society) and rising sophomores Mea Allex (undeclared), Evie Biggs (undeclared), McKenna O'Toole (undeclared), Kylie Smith (undeclared) and
Haley Williams (undeclared) are first-time recipients.

To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at a member institution and appeared in at least one contest in a sport sponsored by the conference.

Since CC women's soccer became an affiliate member of the MW prior to the 2014 season, 49 Tigers have combined for a total of 93 Scholar-Athlete Awards.Â
Conference wide, 1,402 student-athletes were honored this year.
