The No. 5 Colorado College men's soccer team hits the road for four straight games away from Colorado Springs, starting with a match at Concordia University (TX) on Friday in Austin, Tex.
CC is 3-0 to start Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play and has yet to be scored on since league play was initiated.
Last Time Out
The Tigers went 2-0 last weekend in a pair of 2-0 victories on the road at the University of the Ozarks and at home against Centenary. CC capitalized off a penalty kick in the 71st minute in Arkansas on Thursday against the Eagles.
Alexander Ward scored the PK, which ended up being the game-winner.
Oliver Ramirez added the second goal in the 87th minute.
Ramirez scored again and added an assist on Sunday against Centenary. The junior scored in the 73rd minute and assisted on
Wyatt Linggi's goal in the 55th minute.
The Tigers out shot their opponents 61-8 over the weekend, including 27-4 shots on goal. Against the Gents, CC was one shot shy of its season high of 37 shots.
Defensively Dominant
CC has seven shutouts and is second in the nation with a 0.364 goals-against average. The Tigers have yet to surrender more than one goal in a game and have successfully played two different goalkeepers through the first eleven games.
Alex Wolter and
Spencer Besselaar combine for a 0.871 save percentage, and only four goals allowed this year.
CC has allowed its opponents to produce only 76 shots while the offense has dished out 239.
The Tigers are eighth nationally in shutout percentage and 15th in goal differential.
Scouting the Opposition
Concordia enters the weekend with a 5-2-3 (2-1) record and are 2-1 in its last three games (all SCAC contests). The Tornadoes recently lost a competitive 2-1 decision to then No. 24 Trinity.
Theo Givens leads the team with 16 points (6g, 4a). He is third in the SCAC in goals and tied for second in assists. Antonio Rios is second in the conference with five assists and has a goal to his name this year.
