The No. 4 Colorado College men's soccer team finishes its four-game road trip with games in Georgetown and Seguin, Texas, against No. 24 Southwestern and Texas Lutheran. The Tigers battle the Pirates, the only other ranked team in the SCAC, on Thursday, Oct 17th at 6:30 pm MT and then face the Bulldogs on Sunday, Oct. 20th at 11 am MT.

CC continued to roll through its SCAC schedule with another set of shutout wins in Texas last week against Concordia and McMurry. The Tigers downed the Tornadoes 3-0 on Oct. 11th and then routed the Warhawks 4-0 on Oct 13th.Â

Spencer Besselaar collected starts over the weekend. Wolter tied his career-high of five saves against Concordia, and Besselaar made two saves, but the Tigers held McMurry to only two shots.Â

Alexander Ward dished out three points with a goal, an assist and six shots against McMurry. The Senior scored on a penalty for the second time this season.Â

Dylan Stapley earned his first career SCAC Player of the Week honors by being named the Defensive POTW on Monday.
The San Diego played all but six minutes against Concordia and McMurry, including 90 minutes against the Tornadoes.Â

CC surrendered only six shots per game, including a season-low two against McMurry on Sunday. The Warhawks didn't get a shot off in the first half as CC rolled to a 4-0 victory.Â

Stapley played all 90 minutes on Thursday against the Tornadoes and 84 against the Warhawks. The Tigers have recorded five straight shutouts and nine this season. CC has the fourth-best shutout percentage in the country (0.692).

It's the first conference award for Stapley and the fourth CC player to be honored this season.

Scouting the Opposition

The No. 24 ranked Pirates enter the week with a 7-1-3 record. They suffered their only loss of the season this last week to No. 22 ranked Trinity. The Pirates started the year undefeated through the first 10 games. SWU is fourth in the SCAC behind Trinity, CC and St. Thomas.Â

Michael Grimm leads the team with 13 points from five goals and three assists. Raghav Sharma is second with four goals and two assists but leads the Pirates with a .625 shot-on-goal percentage.Â

Texas Lutheran has also suffered only one loss this year. The Bulldogs are 6-1-3 entering the week and rank fifth in the conference standings. The only defeat on TLU's schedule is a 3-2 loss to Trinity on Oct. 11.Â

Roman Diego leads the team with three goals. TLU has 12 players with goals on the stat sheet, but the team sits ninth in the SCAC in total goals. Defensively, the Bulldogs rank second behind CC in goals allowed per game (0.58).Â
