The Colorado College men's basketball team returns home after more than a month on the road. The Tigers host Hardin-Simmons University and Willamette University on Thursday, Dec. 19th and Saturday, Dec. 21st.
Last Time Out
CC fell to St. Thomas in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener in Houston by a final score of 85-67.
The Tigers were led by Senior
Scott Ruegg, who finished with with a season-high 21 points after tying his career-high of six three-pointers. The Lafayette, Calif. native went 6-7 from beyond the arc as the Tigers fell to 2-5.
Senior
Devin Philio dished out 18 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals. Junior
Asher Nofziger finished with 11 points and five rebounds.
Leading The Way
Nofziger is on the path for his best season after the first seven games of his junior campaign. The Denver native is leaving the team in points per game (18.0), rebounds per game (8.0) and free throws made (25)
He has strung together two double-doubles and two games this year, scoring 28 points or more, including a career-high 32 against UChicago.
Scott Ruegg is the Tigers' most productive three-point shooter. The California native shoots 44.4 percent from long range and tied his career high of six threes last weekend against St. Thomas.
Sophomore
Gavin Carter leads the Tigers with 3.4 assists per game. Carter has dished out 24 assists this season, including season-high six against Hanover.
Scouting The Opposition
Hardin-Simmons enters the weekend with a 4-5 record with three wins over other SCAC opponents. The Cowboys are 1-2 in their last three games including a 78-71 loss to Trinity (TX).
HSU recently battled D1 Abilene Christian in an exhibition on Dec. 14.
Austin Brewer leads the team with 17.4 points per game followed by Chris Bryant with 17.2 ppg. Will Bartoszek is the other Cowboy averaging double-digit points per game (13.8). Brewer is also the top rebounder with 9.3 swipes per game.
