The Colorado College women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Seward County Community College Saturday afternoon at the Garden of the Gods Tennis Club in Colorado Springs.

Seward County jumped out to an early 2-1 lead after winning the Nos. 2 and 3 doubles matches. CC's top team of freshmen
Kala Komanduri and
Avery Hickman defeated Emma Petton and Alejandra Ramirez, 8-3, to capture the Tigers' lone doubles win.

The Saints captured the top two singles matches in three sets. Petton won the No. 1 match in a three-set thriller, 6-3, 6-7, 1-0(9) over Komanduri, while Ramirez rallied to down Hickman, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0(4) at the No. 2 position.

Christina Heffron rolled past Niklova, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 3, and
Emmy Winter beat Otoha Mogi, 6-1, 7-5, at No. 6, to post CC"s two singles victories.
"We fought our tails off today, but a few bad breaks in singles derailed us," head coach
Anthony Weber said. "This was definitely an early season experience that we can build on."
The Tigers return to action on Thursday, Feb. 15, against Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho, beginning at 4:30 p.m. (PT).
