Tomlinson Reaches 1,000 Career Points Milestone As CC Routes Austin College

Zoë Tomlinson added another notch to her belt in terms of career accomplishments. After tying the program record for most rebounds in a game and surpassing 800 career rebounds in the last week, Tomlinson became the 16th player in team history to reach 1,000 career points.

The New York native led CC to a 65-40 win over Austin College in Reid Arena on Friday night. The Tigers end their two-game skid and improve to 17-7 (11-4 SCAC) on the season. The Tigers are 10-1 at home this year.

Tomlinson had 11 points with six minutes remaining in the third quarter and needed one more point to reach 1,000 career points. She missed her first one, surely due to adrenaline, but sank the second as the CC faithful and the Tiger bench erupted to celebrate.

She joins Audrey Bayston as the second player this season to reach the career milestone. Tomlinson ended the night with 21 points, 15 rebounds, one assist and three blocks. Bayston returned to form with 11 points, 3-5 from three and five rebounds.

CC never trailed in the game, and the defense helped control the pace wire-to-wire. Austin College was limited to 23.3 percent shooting on the night, while CC Shot 46.3 percent from the floor.

The Tigers locked the "Roos down in the first and third quarters, allowing only five combined shots between the two, and held Austin College to only 14 made field goals on the night despite 60 attempts.

CC was also dominant on the boards, outrebounding their opponents 48-28. Four players had five or more rebounds. Besides Tomlinson and Bayston, Rose Koehler and Healy Bledsoe grabbed five boards and combined for 16 points, seven assists and five steals.

The deep ball was also landing for the Tigers. Kayla Mackel went 2-4 from long range as the team together shot 44 percent from long range.

The Tigers will close out the regular season on Senior Day on Sunday against the University of Dallas at 2:00 p.m. MT.
