CC Comes Up Short On Senior Day To Dallas

The Colorado College men's basketball team wrapped up the regular season honoring the team's seniors on Senior Day at Reid Arena. Unfortunately, the Tigers fell to the University of Dallas 87-82 in a closely contested SCAC battle.

CC had four players score in double digits; Dinari Boykin led the pack with 16 points, four rebounds, an assist and a steal. Adrian Price put up a season-high 10 rebounds while also putting up his first double-double of the season with 12 points.

Scott Ruegg and Asher Nofziger combined for 25 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and two steals.

CC honored seniors Alex Russo and Trey Crawford before the tip-off, both of whom got the start. The senior pair finished the game with 11 points, six rebounds, one assist, two blocks and a steal.

The Tigers shot 51.5 percent from the floor, but the Crusaders had a big day from their bench. Kelton Coleman led all scorers with 27 points as Dallas took the lead halfway through the first half and didn't lose it for the rest of the game.

To start the first, the Tigers had a jumpstart from the seniors, including back-to-back field goals to put CC up 7-1 with 17 minutes to play in the half. The lead eventually grew to 11-1 before Dallas went on their first run and brought the game back within a score with under 10 minutes to play.

The Crusaders ultimately took the lead 23-22 with seven minutes to play, and they went into the break with a 42-37 lead.

CC could not regain the advantage in the latter 20 minutes as both teams scored 45 points despite the Tigers outshooting their opponents 19-17. The Crusaders made seven free throws in the second half, three more than CC, and one more three-pointer to help seal the win.

The Tigers battled their way back from 12 points down and brought the game back within four points with eight seconds to play; however, Dallas iced the game from the free throw line in the final seconds and ultimately won 87-82.

CC finishes the regular season at 14-11 (8-8) and will be the No. 4 seed heading into next weekend's SCAC Tournament in Shreveport, La. The Tigers and Crusaders (No. 5 seed) will battle in the quarterfinals on Friday, Feb. 23, at 12 p.m. (CT).
