The Colorado College women's basketball team routed St. Thomas by a final score of 86-51 to improve to 16-5 (10-2 SCAC) on the season.
Junior
Healy Bledsoe racked up a career-high 21 points, along with five rebounds and three assists. The Bend, Oregon native also had a career-high seven steals to complete her all-around dominant showing.
Zoë Tomlinson led the team with 12 rebounds and 12 points to bring her double-double season total to 18. She is now in sole possession of the most double-doubles in the country.
The Tigers exploded in the first quarter for 31 points off 59.09 percent shooting.
Kayla Mackel showed up and showed out in the first ten minutes of the game, knocking down three of four three-pointers and scoring 11 points. She ended the game with 16 points, one rebound and two assists. CC made eight shots from long range, and Mackel was responsible for half of them.
In the second quarter, the Celts did a good job slowing down the CC offense, holding the Tigers to a less efficient 31.25 percent from the floor. St. Thomas outscored CC 19-15 in the second and cut the lead down to 12 during the halftime break.
After a slower second quarter, the third quarter allowed CC to return to their shooting form; the Tigers scored a game-high 61.11 percent while holding UST to a 21.43 field goal percentage. CC's defense held UST to only six made field goals in the entire second half.
Bledsoe scored eight of the 24 points in the quarter for CC.
CC continued to roll in the fourth as most starters were out, but the other Tigers came in and took care of business. Freshmen
Willa McLaughlin and
Juliana Garcia picked up right where they left off on Friday after scoring career highs. The duo combined on Sunday for 17 points, ten rebounds and two assists. Garcia grabbed a career-high six boards.
The Tigers closed the game, shooting 42.86 percent in the fourth quarter while holding the Celts to 21.43 percent.
CC outrebounded UST 49-18, including 20 offensive rebounds.
The Tigers' next game is a road trip to Texas to take on Schreiner on Friday, Feb. 9. They will then gear up for a big game against first-place Trinity on Feb. 11.
