James Settles and
Josh Williams each broke his own school record Saturday at the season-opening Oxy Distance Classic and Spring Break Classic in Los Angeles, Calif.

Settles won the 5K with a time of 14:07.78, breaking his own mark of 14:08.47 set last season. Meanwhile, Williams placed second in the 400 in 48.01 seconds, snapping his previous record of 48.62, set last year as a freshman. Williams also placed sixth in the long jump with a leap of 20'6.75".

Other Top 10 results included
Holden Perry and
Sean Lam seventh in the high jump (5'3.75") and triple jump (38.1.75"). Perry finished eighth in the triple jump (38'0.25"), while
Owen Shi was eighth in the shot put (40'9.25") and
Luc Santos 10
th in the 3000 steeplechase (9:56.64).

The 4x100 relay team of
Kyle Sun, Perry,
Chase Marks and Williams placed second in 42.10 seconds.

The Tigers will split their squad next weekend, racing at Emory University (March 15-16) and CSU-Pueblo (March 16).
