Havill Surpasses 100 Career Goals, Leads Tigers to Crucial Win Over CMS

The Colorado College women's lacrosse team won its fourth straight game in a decisive 15-9 victory over a scrappy Claremont-Mudd-Scipps team. Kendall Havill surpassed 100 career goals in the game after racking up nine points with eight goals and an assist.

Multiple Tigers had career games as goalkeeper Cassidy Schaufer made a career-high 16 saves.

Havill has 105 career goals as a CC Tiger, putting her 15th all-time in the CC record books. She also had 47 goals on the season, tied for 16th most in a single season. The captain put the Tigers on top with back-to-back goals in the first quarter after the Athenas took an early 2-1 lead. Sofia Mancino put CC on the scoreboard with the opening goal 51 seconds into the game. The consecutive CMS goals gave them their only lead of the day before Havill scored her first two.

Grace Bean connected with Healy Bledsoe on a woman-down goal with 43 seconds left in the quarter. The Tigers had two plays in the box, but Bean found a gap in the crease and put the Tigers up 4-2 heading into the second quarter. In the second, Havill went on her biggest scoring streak of the day, racking up four straight goals over four minutes to increase the Tiger lead to five goals. Devon Ortman scored her lone goal with 2:16 left in the half, and CC went into the halftime break up 9-4.

Both teams had 18 shots and 13 shots on goal in the first half, but goalkeeper Cassidy Schnaufer had nine saves in the first half alone to keep CC in front. The sophomore finished the game with a career-high 16 saves.

Freshman Charlotte Iler got involved in the third quarter, scoring back-to-back goals with assists from Frances Hansot and Havill. Iler now has 24 goals on the season and is second on the team.

Havil, Tobin Lonergan and Caroline Shay scored in the third and fourth quarters as the Tigers continued outshooting CMS. CC had 10 shots (eight on net) in the third quarter alone, limiting the Athenas to only five. In the fourth quarter, CMS had a mini-run to cut the lead to six with 3:02 to play, but the CC defense held steadfast in the end.

CC improves to 6-3 on the season and is on its longest win streak since the 2022 and 2023 seasons when the Tigers won six straight. It is its longest in-season winning streak since the 2021 season.

Next up is the start of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schedule as UW Eau Claire comes to Washburn Field on Friday, April 5th at 3 p.m. CC and UW Eau Claire enter conference play as the top two teams in the conference standings.
