Tigers Win Eighth Straight Game and Reach 10 Wins After Downing Pirates

Make it eight wins in a row for The Colorado College women's lacrosse team has now won eight straight. On Sunday, The Tigers handled Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, 23-3. The win continues CC's longest winning streak since the 2019 season and marks the seventh time this season that the Tigers have surpassed 20 points in a game.

Senior Kendall Havill led the way with another five-goal game. Havill has 115 career goals, the 13th most in CC history. She also has 56 on the season, three short of her 59-goal season last year, the third most in program history.

Junior Tobin Lonergan became the 20th player in CC history to surpass 100 career goals when she scored back-to-back with 8:44 left in the first quarter. Lonergan finished with three goals, an assist, two ground balls and a caused turnover. She joins Havill as two players to reach the 100-goal mark this season. Lonergan is currently second on the team with 32 goals and also leads the Tigers with 25 assists this season.

CC's strategy was clear as they outshot the Pirates 35-11. The Tigers relied on a blistering 10-goal first quarter to catapult them to victory, maintaining their undefeated record in conference play.

Grace Bean struck 36 seconds into the game with an assist from Lonergan. SWU responded shortly after to tie the game up 1-1. CC responded with nine straight goals scored by Havill, Charlotte Iler, Lonergan, and Kesely Shankle.

Shankle, Healy Bledsoe and Bridgen Hanley scored the lone three goals of the second quarter, and the Tigers went into the halftime break up 14-2. In the third, the offensive onslaught continued for the Tigers as Lonergan brought the CC up to 13 after finding the back of the net with 11:37 left in the quarter.

Havill scored her fifth goal on a woman-up opportunity with 8:16 left to extend the lead to 14. Evelyn Baher-Murphy also scored her second of the season on the Tigers run as CC finished the game with 12 different Tigers scoring on net. Hanley recorded a season-high three goals and finished the game with seven team-high points. The senior dropped four assists and now has racked up 14 points in the last three games.

Goalkeeper Cassidy Schnaufer recorded another win after knabbing five saves in the net.
