The Colorado College women's tennis team wrapped up its 2024 regular season with an 8-1 loss at 41
st-ranked Southwestern University Sunday morning in Georgetown, Texas.

The Pirates jumped out to an early 3-0 lead by sweeping the doubles matches. CC's No. 2 team of
Lindsay Popeo and
Elizabeth Girian put up the toughest fight before falling to Daryl Locke and Kimberly Duncan, 8-6.

In singles play,
Kala Komanduri posted CC's lone victory with a 61, 2-6, 1-0(7) victory over Mary Young at the No. 1 position.
Avery Hickman nearly did the same at the No. 2 spot, but dropped a thrilling, 5-7, 6-3, 1-0(8) decision to Locke.

Girian also took her opponent, Valeria Gracia, to three sets, but fell 2-6, 6-4, 1-0(3), at No. 5, and the Pirates won the other three matches in straight sets.

The Tigers (6-12, 2-2 SCAC) open play in the SCAC Tournament on Friday, April 26, in Sherman, Texas. CC will be the No. 3 seed and face sixth-seeded Texas Lutheran in the quarterfinals on Friday.
