CC Scores Season-High 24 Goals In Win Over Centenary

It was a 2-0 weekend for the Colorado College men's lacrosse team. The Tigers took care of business in Shreveport, LA, against the Gents of Centenary College in a 24-7 contest, which is the Tigers' most substantial margin of victory this season.

The 17-goal win is the largest since April 28, 2023, when CC downed Anderson University 22-1 in the HCLC Tournament Semifinals. The 24 goals are the most since a 31-11 win over Southwestern in the 2021 SCAC Tournament Championship game.

Five Tigers racked up multi-goal games, including Quinn Gordan, who led the team with three. The freshman hadn't scored till Sunday, and the Dallas, Texas native pulled out a hat trick for his first three collegiate goals. Gordon finished with four points and an assist. Senior Philip Gisler also finished with four points after putting up two goals and two assists.

CC outshot the Gents 60-27, a season-high for the Tigers and the most since April 30, 2023. On Sunday, 39 of the shots were on net. CC was solid across the field, forcing 19 turnovers, grabbing 42 ground balls and converting 33 clears on 37 attempts. The Tigers held the Gents to only 20 successful clears.

Dylan Brown jumpstarted the Tigers' scoring in the first, finding the back of the net on an unassisted goal just a minute and 26 seconds into the game. Billy Robertson scored nine seconds later with an assist from Gisler. The Tigers went on a 5-0 run to open the game before Centenary scored their first goal with 8:02 remaining. After the Gents responded, CC countered with another five-goal run to take a 10-2 lead into the second.

The next quarter was much like the first, the Tigers had seven goals from seven different players, including Gordon's second career goal to make it 15-2 with 5:54 remaining in the half.

After putting up 30 shots in the first quarter, CC added another 14 in the second.

The Tigers' offensive onslaught continued in the third as Kevin Somerville extended the lead to 15 goals with 12:13 remaining. Wyatt Furda followed suit on an unassisted goal less than two minutes later.

Will Hanson and Avery Dysart added two additional goals in the fourth quarter as CC cruised to the eventual 24-7 win. The Tigers improve to 7-4 on the season and will continue their road trip on the east coast next week when they take on Southern Virginia on Friday, April 19th.
