Senior Day featured plenty of highlights on Sunday at Washburn Field. The Colorado College women's lacrosse team ended their home portion of the schedule with a 21-1 routed the University of Wisconsin Stout. With the win, CC finished the year 8-1 on its home turf and will play the final six games of the regular season on the road.
The eight home wins are the most since the Tigers went 10-0 at Washburn in 2019.
The team's five seniors,
Kendall Havill,
Devon Ortman,
Bridget Hanley,
Olamide Olayiwola, and
Caroline Shay, made significant contributions in their final home game. Hanley led the team with six points, including a goal and five assists, while Havill showcased her scoring prowess with three goals. Shay and Ortman demonstrated their control of the game with a combined total of 11 draw controls, three goals, and an assist.
First-year player
Charlotte Iler led the team with four goals, her sixth time this season with four or more goals in a game.
13 players found the back of the net against the Blue Devils as CC put up a season-high 44 shots, including 35 on goal. The Tigers also dished out 12 assists, the second most in a game this year.
CC set the tone early, scoring the game's first eight goals and finished the first quarter with an 11-1 lead. This impressive start not only marked a season-high, surpassing their previous high of 10 goals in the second quarter against No. 18 U Chicago.
Defensively, the Tigers were a force to be reckoned with. They held the Blue Devils to a mere three shots throughout the game, including a shutout in the second and fourth quarters. UW-Stout struggled to clear the ball, going 7-21 at the Tigers, and CC forced 28 turnovers. Havill led the defensive charge with three caused turnovers.
At the break, the Tigers led 14-1 and didn't surrender a goal for the remainder of the game. CC scored an additional four goals in the third and three in the fourth to close out the win and improve to 8-3 on the season.
CC will continue their season next weekend in Georgetown, Texas, to pair a play of conference road games against UW-La Crosse and Southwestern on April 13th and 14th.
