The Colorado College men's cross country team opened the 2024 season on Saturday with a fourth-place finish at the UCCS Rust Buster Meet in Monument Valley Park.

Will Shuflit led the Tigers with a 7th-place individual finish, the best result by a Tiger at this meet since 2018, running the 8K race in 25 minutes, 42.6 seconds. Freshman
Vincent Mangat followed in 18
th-place with a time of 26:25.9 in his first collegiate race.

Junior
Axel Klomparens placed 22
nd in 26:40.9, followed by freshman
Diego Escalante, who finished 28
th   with a time of 26:54.9 in his inaugural collegiate competition. Sophomore
Eric Coombs rounded out the scoring for CC in 37
th place in 27:23.2.

"Everyone's summer training was really on display today," head coach
Alex Nichols said. "Even though it's early in the season, we had a number of all-time personal bests. This is a very good indication that this team is on track to surprise people in November."
