Derek Savage Promoted to Director of Strength and Conditioning

Derek Savage has been named the director of strength and conditioning at Colorado College, according to associate athletics director for sport performance and well-being Rich Bennett.

Savage, who has been an assistant strength and conditioning coach at CC since August of 2021, joined the school's sports performance staff in October of 2019.

"We are thrilled to name Derek as our new director of strength and conditioning," Bennett said. "He has shown tremendous character, dedication and proficiency in his craft in the seven years leading up to this promotion. I look forward to working with Derek and his staff to provide elite-level training for all of our student-athletes."

Savage will be the main S&C coach for the hockey and women's soccer programs.

He worked at 365 Performance Hockey Academy in Monument, Colo., from 2017-21, two years as an assistant strength and conditioning coach and two as the associate director of sports performance.

Savage earned a bachelor's degree in exercise and movement science from Missouri State University in 2016 and a master's degree in sports medicine: strength and conditioning in 2019 from UCCS, where he served as a graduate assistant S&C coach for the men's basketball, women's lacrosse and men's and women's golf programs.
