Will Shuflit outpaced 422 Division III runners with a school-record time to win the 'White' 8K race and lead the CC men's cross country team to an 11
th-place finish at the 51
st annual Paul Short Run Friday morning in Bethlehem, Pa.

Shuflit completed the 8K course in a school-record time of 24:04.9 seconds, more than 13 seconds faster than runner-up Nathan Tassey of Roger Williams and 11 seconds clear of his own previous school record.

The Tigers, ranked 26
th in the country, joined 10 other Division III teams ranked in the top 30 on Friday as 45 total teams competed in the top Division III tier at the meet. Â Â

Vincent Mangat was CC's second finisher in 51
st place with a time of 25:19.3, followed by seniors
Rabbit Barnes in 92
nd (25:42.4) and
Axel Klomparens in 100
th (25:42.0), respectively.

Diego Escalante rounded out the scoring for the Tigers 117
th place with a time of 25:53.4.

"Our men had a solid performance today," head coach
Alex Nichols said. "They moved up well in a large field of very competitive teams. It was a valuable experience to have as we set our sights on a national championship qualification later in the fall. Will's win was executed perfectly and sent a message to the top individuals in the country that he will be a threat in November."
The Tigers return to action at the UCCS Open on Friday, Oct. 10 at North Monument Valley Park in Colorado Springs.
