Tigers Hit The Road Against No. 12 Calvin

The Colorado College men's basketball team plays its first road game of the year against No. 12 Calvin University on Saturday, Nov. 15th at 10 am MT in Grand Rapids, Mich.

CC defeated Western Colorado 94-92 in overtime in the season opener at Reid Arena on Nov. 7th. 
 
It's the first time CC has defeated an NCAA Division II opponent since the 2009 season. A 79-72 victory over UCCS in the season opener. 
 
Senior Orion Samikoglu drilled a game-tying three-pointer with 0.4 seconds left in regulation to erase a 23-point deficit and force overtime. CC went on a 31-8 run over the final eight minutes of the second half. Junior Ty Hendler laid in the buzzer-beater lay-up in overtime to lift CC over WCU. 
 
Hendler finished with a game-high 22 points, seven rebounds, one assist and one steal. Four Tigers finished in double-digits. Terrion Benson scored 15 points, and added three rebounds, one assist and four steals. 
 
SCAC Player of the Week
Freshman guard Terrion Benson has been named the SCAC Men's Basketball Defensive Player-of-the-Week for games played from Friday, November 7, through Sunday, November 9. 
Benson shined in his collegiate debut, helping spark a 23-point comeback OT win over DII foe Western Colorado. Benson finished with a game-high four steals, four rebounds, 15 points and one assist in only 17 minutes on the court. Benson had three steals that resulted in fast-break dunks and helped spark the comeback win. 

In The Polls
CC was picked to finish second in this year's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll. CC, picked to finish behind St. Thomas with 106 points and one first-place vote after it went 14-13 (9-7 SCAC) last season and advanced to the semifinals of the SCAC Tournament. 

Scouting the Knights
Calvin enters Saturday with a 1-1 record after losing its season opener against Denison 61-59 on Nov. 7, but then bounced back with a 64-46 win over Ohio Wesleyan on Nov. 8. 
Redshirt junior center Jalen Overway leads the team with 26.5 points per game through the opening week. He had 29 points in the season opener.
