Will Shuflit won the 2025 NCAA Division III West Region cross country individual title to automatically qualify for next weekend's NCAA Division III National Championship Meet and led No. 22 Colorado College to a second-place team finish Saturday in Claremont, Calif.

Shuflit, who won the SCAC Championship Meet two weeks ago, is CC's second regional champion in the last three years as James Settles won the title in 2023. Shuflit finished Saturday's 8K race with a time of 24:50.0 and is the fifth Tiger runner to win the regional championship, joining Settles, Jackson Brainerd (2009-11), Julian Boggs (2006) and Scott Kang (1986).Â

"It is always great to get out there and compete, especially with my team behind me backing me up," Shuflit said. "It is great to win this week, and I have no doubts about the team being ready for next week."
Colorado College's second-place finish is the program's best since tying for the regional title in 2011.

The winning team from each of the 10 regions automatically qualifies for the NCAA Division III National Championship, while 22 other teams from around the country will be selected as at-large bids. In addition, the top seven individuals that are not on teams selected also advance to the national meet. The team and individual selections to the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship will be announced on Sunday, Nov. 16.

No. 14 Pomona-Pitzer took the team title with 43 points, followed by Colorado College (73), No. 25 Claremont Mudd-Scripps (80), George Fox (95) and No. 28 UC Santa Cruz (149)

Alex Nichols said. "Everyone executed their race strategies, and they moved up perfectly as the race progressed. This was by far our best performance of the season, and it came at just the right time. I'm looking forward to seeing Will lead the men into the national championship next weekend."Â
The NCAA Division III National Championship is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 23, in Spartanburg, S.C.
