The Colorado College men's lacrosse team wasn't bothered by the sub-freezing temperatures as the Tigers sank the Flying Dutchmen of Hope College 13-9. CC moved to 2-0 to start the season for the first time since 2021.

"Playing back-to-back against an excellent Hope College team with a full day to prepare is a tough test," head coach
Mike Horowitz said. "To earn a win in a different style than Sunday is the mark of a tough team."

Sophomore
Matt Hudson led the scoring efforts for the second consecutive night, dishing three goals to give him eight on the season. Hudson tallied four points with an assist with his seven shots and three ground balls.

Freshman
Max Vota added two more goals and an assist in his second career game.
Andrew Tan also tied his career-high of two goals and finished with four shots, three on target.

Goaltender
Jackson Lesher collected a career-high 14 saves and played all 60 minutes in the cage.

CC got out to a 5-0 lead quickly in the first, scoring its first goal a minute and 52 seconds into the game when
Karsten Nyarady found the back of the net after an assist from Vota, who got his goal two minutes later.

Hudson made it 3-0 with a man-up goal at 7:32 after an assist from
Nick Johnson.
Brayden Legette and Vota added two more to put CC up 5-0 at the end of the first quarter.

The Flying Dutchmen responded with a formidable 4-0 run, which cut the lead down to one with 1:16 remaining in the half. However, with one second left, Tan found the back of the net to put CC up 6-4 at the break.

Both teams scored twice in the third; CC struck first to increase the lead to 7-4 with 12:02 remaining. Nick McCreery scored consecutive goals for Hope in response, but an
Aidan Niklaus goal with 1:29 remaining gave the Tigers an 8-6 lead heading into the final frame.

The fourth was the most productive quarter for the Tigers, who put 11 shots up compared to Hope's five. Both teams scored twice to open up the period, but the Tigers scored three of the final four goals to put the game out of reach.

Niklaus scored his second goal with 2:54 left, which ended up being the dagger.

CC outshot Hope 41-37, forced 18 turnovers, and grabbed 30 ground balls compared to HC's 25. The home team also won 13 of 24 faceoff opportunities.

The Tigers will travel to Gambler, Ohio, for the first time this season. They will take on Kenyon College on Friday, Feb. 14, at 1:30 p.m. MT.
