CC Prepares For Rematches Against Austin College & Dallas

The Colorado College men's basketball team prepares to host the second weekend of back-to-back matchups against Austin College and The University of Dallas at Reid Arena. After the Tigers won both games last weekend in Texas, they look to hold steady in the SCAC standings as the postseason approaches.

Last Time Out

CC downed Austin College (79-74, OT) and Dallas (78-75) in wire-to-wire matchups. The Tigers overcame some late-night drama and defeated the 'Roos in extra time. Senior Devin Philio led the team with a career-high 14 rebounds and 14 points.

Two days later, Philio led the team in Dallas with 22 points and 11 rebounds. The Aurora native finished the weekend averaging 18 points and 12.5 rebounds. Asher Nofziger followed with 15 points, nine rebounds, two assists and a steal.

In The Standings

CC is second in the Blue Division of the SCAC standings, ahead of the University of the Ozarks and Dallas. The top three teams in each division advance to the SCAC Tournament, which will be held on Feb. 28 in Irving, Texas.

The Tigers moved into second with the wins last weekend and have a 6-4 conference record. Despite a loss to Ozarks back on Jan. 26 in OT, the Eagles dropped both games to Trinity and Schreiner last weekend and enter Friday with a 5-5 SCAC record.

Leading The Way

Philio led the Tigers last weekend, averaging a double-double, and was nominated for SCAC Player of the Week. The Aurora native has dished out five double-doubles this season.

Nofziger leads the team in points and rebounds per game. The junior is fifth in the SCAC with 17.6 points per game and third with 9.6 boards per game. Philio leads the conference with a 66.9 field goal percentage.
