The No. 23 Colorado College women's basketball team improved to 18-2 to match its best start through 20 games in program history with a 67-37 win over Austin College on Friday night. CC went 18-2 to start the 1976-77 season and finished the year 20-4.
The Tigers held the 'Roos to only 28.8 percent shooting and gave up only two free throws. Seniors
Laura Strenk and
Zoë Tomlinson combined for 24 points and 17 rebounds. Tomlinson grabbed another double-double after finishing with 13 points and 12 rebounds and blocked a career-high six blocks.
The New York native added another record to her resume by breaking the all-time Southern Collegiate Atheltic Conference career rebounding record, surpassing Annie Bourne from Southwestern (11/12-14/15).
Tomlinson now has 1,185 career boards, which is already the most in CC history.

Strenk finished the game with 11 points, five rebounds, two assists and three steals. Freshman
Addie Meyer scored a career-high 10 points and drilled her first career three-pointer. The Crystal Lake, Ill native finished with 16 minutes, a rebound, an assist and two steals.
The CC bench outscored the AC bench 20-8, and the Tigers outrebounded the 'Roos 38-31 and forced 22 turnovers.
"Tonight, we got contributions from so many. Addie [Meyer] had a career night with scoring, and her offensive decision-making and finishing was a great spark," Auguste said. "Kayla [Mackel], Kyle [Rowland,] and Laura did an amazing job letting it fly from behind the a,rc and that consistency is huge for our offense."
CC led 16-9 after the end of the first quarter after holding AC to a 28.57 shooting percentage. The Tigers scored 22 in the second quarter, taking a 23-point lead into the halftime break.
Meyer scored six points for the Tigers in the second quarter. CC shot 43.75 percent from the floor and led 38-15 at the break.
In the second half, CC spread the wealth as six players scored in the third quarter, including four three-pointers from Mackel, Strenk,
Isa Nelson and
Kyle Rowland.
The Tigers led 54-32 going into the fourth and didn't allow Austin College even to attempt a comeback, limiting the 'Roos to only one made field goal and an 8.33 shooting percentage.
CC cruised to a 67-36 victory, improving to 18-2 on the season and extending its winning streak to seven straight games.
Juliana Garcia led the Tiger with four steals, and Johnson added six points, six rebounds and four assists.
"Kyle's defense was a game-changer in the first quarter and beyond, Avery had another efficient outing with four assists and no turnovers, and Zoë's blocks generated great energy. It was a good night on all around!".
After defeating the University of Dallas last Sunday in Irving, the Tigers will face the Crusaders again on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 1 pm MT.
