The Colorado College women's tennis team nearly upset Division I Marist University on Thursday, but fell to the Red Foxes, 4-3, at the Air Force Academy.
 
Marist jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after winning two of the three doubles matches. CC's No. 2 team of freshmen 
Ally Lowe and 
Amelia Karr downed Ella Lindsey an Andrianna Zaphiris, 6-2. After Marist won the No. 3 match, 6-1, the Tigers' top team of freshmen 
Lucia Moravek and 
Aspen Young was edged by Caterina Assi and Vihana Shresta, 7-5.
 
The teams split the six singles matches, with Moravek defeating Ellen Zureick, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0(7).
 
However, Marist won at the top three spots. Assi beat CC's 
Avery Hickman, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 1, Victoria Lorentzon downed Lowe, 7-6, 6-4, at No. 2, and Shresta outlasted CC's 
Kala Komanduri, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0(10) at No. 3 to clinch the match.
 
The Tigers (3-3) won the final two singles matches. Young beat Lola Ungerman, 7-6(5), 6-2, and Lindsey Popeo downed Janey Wright, 8-2.
 
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, March 15, against Cal Tech in Pasadena, Calif., beginning at 11 a.m. (PT).
