The No. 19 Colorado College women's lacrosse team fell 8-7 to SUNY New Paltz on Monday at Washburn Field. The Hawks scored the game-winning goal with 24 seconds to go after forcing a turnover.

CC had a free-position shot with seven seconds left, but it was saved and the Hawks escaped with the win.

The Tigers were outshot 31-18. CC had six players find the back of the net, including sophomore Oliv Janerico, who led the team with two goals. Lexi Atwater for New Paltz led all players with six goals.

Only three goals were scored in the first half, starting with Janerico breaking the scoreless tie with 1:39 remaining in the first quarter. Sophomore Charolette Iler scored to open the second to make it 2-0 CC.

Peyton Murphy, Grace Bean and Sofia Mancino scored as CC built up its most significant lead of the day.

The Hawks stormed back with four consecutive goals between the third and fourth and eventually tied the game with 7:16 remaining in the game. Janerico scored her second goal to put CC back up 7-6 with 4:44 left in the game.

However, Atwater for New Paltz scored her fifth and sixth goals to elevate the Hawks over CC.
