No. 19 Tigers Rout Chapman

The No. 19 Colorado College women's lacrosse team had 12 different goal scorers on Thursday against Chapman University as the Tigers downed the Panthers 18-5. 
 
Senior Peyton Murphy had all five of her points (3g,2a) in the first quarter as she led the team, followed by Tobin Lonergan, who had four points (1g,3a). Sophomores Charolette Iler, Meilani Molina, and Sofia Mancino scored twice, and freshman Emilia Calamari had her first career multi-goal game. 
 
CC outscored Chapman 9-1 in the opening quarter as Murphy initiated the electric opening frame with a goal with 10:47 remaining. Mancino scored her first a minute and five seconds later. The Panthers responded by cutting the lead down to 2-1 with 6:16 remaining, but Molina scored both of her goals 29 seconds apart from each other to put CC up 4-1 with 5:01 left in the quarter. 
 
Iler, Lonergan, Murphy and freshman Riley Sterling wrapped up the scoring for the Tigers in the first as CC led by eight going into the second. The run continued in the next quarter. CC put up four more goals in the second, including the first goal of the season for Amanda Roan and Healy Bledsoe
 
The Tigers led 13-1 at the halftime break. In the third, Mancino scored her second of the day to bring the scoring streak to 12 unanswered before Chapman went on their biggest run, scoring three straight to make it 14-4. 
 
CC responded with four straight goals between the third and fourth quarters, including the first two career goals from Calamari and the second goal of the season for freshman Grace Weber. Senior Kelsey Shankle scored her first of the year as CC cruised to the 18-5 victory. 
 
The Tigers improved to 7-2 on the season and 4-1 at Washburn Field. CC outshot Chapman 29-20, including 20-9 for shots on goal. 
 
Mancino, Roan, Oliv Janerico and Molina each had three draw controls. Evelyn Baher-Murphy and Frances Hansot led the team with two ground balls. 
 
Goalkeeper Cassidy Schnaufer made five saves in the winning effort. 
 
CC faces Hamline University in a WIAC matchup at 11 am MT on Saturday.
