Tigers Fall To Undefeated Blue Jays on Senior Day

Freshman Brooks Power tied his career-high of two goals but the Colorado College men's lacrosse team fell 10-7 to Elmhurst University on Friday at Washburn Field.

CC (6-4) led 5-4 at the half, but a strong third and fourth quarter by the Blue Jays (9-0) kept their undefeated season alive. Power tied his career-high of two goals and finished the game with a caused turnover and three shots.

Sophomore Jake Moshang dished out a career-high six caused turnovers and picked up five ground balls. The Pottstown, PA native helped hold the Blue Jays to a scoreless second quarter after both teams put up four goals in the opening frame.

Senior Karsten Nyarady initiated the scoring for the Tigers only 50 seconds in the game after an assist from Max Vota. Elmhurst countered with two goals to take its first lead, but CC responded with a three-goal run to jump in front 4-2.

Trevor Mackles won the faceoff after the Blue Jays' second goal. They scored unassisted with 11:37 left in the first, followed by Kevin Somerville and Matt Hudson scoring only 53 seconds apart.

Elmhurst scored two more to tie the game at 4-4 heading into the second. Power had the only goal of the second quarter to give CC a lead with 13:04 remaining. The Tigers would be held scoreless until the 2:55 mark of the fourth quarter. In the meantime, Elmhurst scored five unanswered goals and took a 9-5 lead.

CC had 14 shots in the second half, but only two found the back of the net. Power scored his second to make it a 9-6 game and Andrew Tan recorded his 12th goal of the season, but the Blue Jays held off the Tigers in the end to win 10-7.

Trevor Mackles led the team with six ground balls and won eight faceoffs. Goalkeeper Jackson Lesher made eight saves.

The Tigers will hit the road for the remainder of the season. They take on the College of Wooster in Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday, April 5.
