No. 19 Tigers Down College of St. Benedict On Senior Day

The No. 19 Colorado College women's lacrosse team downed the College of St. Benedict 17-4 on Senior Day and the final game at Washburn Field of 2025. CC (9-2) had three players with hat tricks and eight players with multiple points. 
 
Sophomore Sofia Mancino led the team as she tied her career-high four goals. She ended the day with an assist, seven shots, two caused turnovers, and three draw controls. 
 
Senior Peyton Murphy dished out three goals, two assists, six shots and a ground ball. Sophomore Oliv Janerico had her second career hat trick and added six shots, causing turnover and draw control. 
 
Murphy scored her three goals in the first quarter as CC took a 7-0 lead at the end of the first. Murphy scored the first goal after six minutes of scoreless lacrosse. Mancino grabbed her first 20 seconds later to make it 2-0 with 8:43 remaining. 
 
Mancino and Janerico scored next with 18 seconds between the two goals. Murphy then found the back of the next consecutively, making it 6-0 with 3:16 remaining. Lonergan closed out the first-quarter scoring with a woman-up goal with 38 seconds left. 
 
The second quarter took a few minutes to get going, as both teams were held scoreless for the first seven minutes. Mancino finally broke the silence with an unassisted goal with 8:09 left in the half. 
 
A few minutes later, Janerico found the back of the net on a woman-down goal, and then Lonergan and Bean also scored as CC led 11-0 at the break. 
 
With a running clock, the Tigers kept the pressure on in the third. Mancino scored back-to-back goals with 11:13 remaining, followed by Kelsey Shankle's fourth goal of the season to make it 14-0. 
 
The Tigers had 37 unanswered goals between Saturday and Sunday before CSB finally broke the streak with its first goal with 6:33 left in the third. 
 
It was not enough, as CC scored twice more and cruised to the eventual 17-4 victory. The win is head coach Susan Stuart's 322nd career victory, and CC moved to 6-1 at home, its best home winning percentage since the 2019 season. 
 
Next week, the Tigers head to Georgetown, Texas, to play three games at Southwestern University. They start with a WIAC matchup against UW-Stevens Point on Friday, April 4, at 10 a.m. CT.
