Colorado College junior Rabbit Barnes was named the SCAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week after setting a school record in the 1500-meter race at the Chuck Hearing Invitational last Friday in Pueblo, Colo.
 
Competing against primarily Division II runners, Barnes, the two-time reigning SCAC 1500 champion, won Friday's race in 3:49.04, surpassing the previous school record of 3:49.87, set by Josh Fry in 2022. His altitude adjusted time of 3:44.22 is currently No. 1 in the country for Division III runners. Barnes also finished ninth in the 800 in 1:54.11.
 
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, April 5, at the Jerry Quiller Classic at the University of Colorado in Boulder.
