Rabbit Barnes has been named one of five finalists for the Southern Collegiate Conference (SCAC) Man of the Year Award.
The award recognizes the conference's senior male student-athlete who has best distinguished himself throughout his collegiate career in the areas of academic achievement, athletic excellence and service and leadership.
Barnes, a member of the school's cross country and track & field teams, the only three-time SCAC Defensive Player of the Year and a United Soccer Coaches All-American, graduated with a 3.81 GPA and a degree in mathematical economics. He was named a CSC Academic All-American each of his last two seasons at CC.
The Los Olivos. Calif. native was named a co-winner of the Van Diest Award, given to the most outstanding senior male student-athlete who demonstrates excellence in athletics, academics, leadership and college contribution.
Barnes added to his stellar track career with a runner-up finish in the mile at the 2026 NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships. He also earned All-America honors last season with a fourth-place finish in the outdoor 1500 and is one of only two runners in the history of the SCAC to win four 1500 titles.
The Los Olivos, Calif., product was named the 2025 SCAC Track Athlete of the Year and 2026 West Region Indoor Athlete of the Year. He has won six SCAC titles and holds seven school records.
Barnes, a three-time team captain, graduated with a 3.97 grade-point average and a bachelor's degree in neuroscience. He was named a CSC first-team Academic All-American as a junior and all-district in 2026.
