The Colorado College women's tennis team won its fifth straight match and second consecutive SCAC contest Sunday with a 7-0 victory over Southwestern University in the regular-season finale in Georgetown, Texas.
The Tigers, who increased their winning streak to five, the longest since 2016, took a 1-0 lead with victories at the Nos. 1 and 3 spots.
Lucia Moravek and
Aspen Young defeated Erika Synoski and Lydia Lee, 6-4, at the No. 1 position, while
Avery Hickman and
Ally Lowe downed Kimberly Duncan and Lilly Perkins, 6-4, at the No. 3 spot.
In singles, CC won all six matches in straight sets, including a 6-4, 6-1, win by Komanduri over Synoski at the top spot.
Lowe defeated Locke, 6-1, 6-3, at the No. 2 position, while Young downed Reynoso, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 3.
Hickman followed suit with a 6-3, 7-6(5) victory over Lee at No. 4, and Moravek and Popeo won at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively
With the victory, CC snapped a nine-match losing streak to Southwestern dating back to 2015.
The 48
th-ranked Tigers (10-7, 2-0 SCAC) return to action at the SCAC Championships in Waco, Texas. The Tigers will be the No. 2 seed and play the winner of Austin College and Texas Lutheran on Friday, April 25. .
