The 40
th-ranked Colorado College women's tennis team led from the start and defeated Division II Metro State University-Denver for the first time since 2016, 5-2, Sunday afternoon in Denver.

CC jumped out to an early 1-0 lead by winning two of the three doubles matches. The Tigers' No. 2 team of
Kala Komanduri and
Amelia Karr defeated Kambra Roles and Kim Heddes, 7-5, and
Avery Hickman and
Ally Lowe won the No. 3 match, 6-1, over Monica Guarin and Louise Hosking.

Three of the singles matches were extended to three sets, including the No. 1 match where Komanduri pulled out a thrilling, 6-3, 6-7(6), 1-0(3) victory over Hanna Haber.

Metro won the Nos. 4 and 6 matches in three sets, but the Tigers captured the other three in straight sets.

Lowe won the No. 2 match, 6-1, 6-4, over Heddes, while Young remained perfect this spring in singles with a 6-3, 6-0, victory over Victoria Ricaurte-Cabas at the No. 3 spot.

Lucia Moravek rounded out the team victory with a decisive, 6-3, 6-3 victory over Guarin at No. 5.

The Tigers (6-7) return to action on Saturday, April 12, with a pair of matches against Division II opponents at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs against Colorado mesa at 11 a.m., and CSU-Pueblo at 4 p.m.
