Program Record 24 Tigers Earn MW Scholar Athlete Award

A program record 24 student-athletes from the Colorado College women's soccer team were named recipients of the Mountain West Scholar-Athlete Award for the 2024-25 academic year, surpassing the previous record of 20 set last season. Colorado College and Utah State tied for the most student-athletes named to the list by MW women's soccer programs.

To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must have completed at least two academic semesters at a member institution and carry a minimum of a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

"We are proud of our players for the hard work and commitment they show in the classroom," head coach Keri Sanchez said. "They have high aspirations both on and off the field and their dedication to academics is exceptional. As part of our championship culture, accountability in the classroom is a priority and it is great to see the success they are earning."

Recent graduates Alexis Wessler and Alex Sandoval each received the award for the fifth time. Wessler and Sandoval finished their collegiate careers with a degree in organismal biology & ecology.

Fellow graduates Zahra Cheeseman (mathematics / computer science), Kaelin Enga (organismal biology & ecology), Ava Risser (economics / political science) and Kaelin Woodruff (business, economics & society) are all four-time recipients, as is Gracie Huebner (organismal biology and ecology), who will return in 2025 for her fourth year of competition.

Graduate Evie Biggs (molecular biology), along with rising seniors Kylie Smith (business, economics & society) and Emily Hitt (organismal biology & ecology) are receiving the honor for the third consecutive year, while graduates Brett Tsamasfyros (environmental studies) and Ashley Stewart (business, economics & society), along with rising juniors Veronica Bianco (political science), Tyler Rose (political science), Ava McCormick (business, economics & society), and Kendall Memoly (business, economics & society), earned the honor for a second time.

First-time recipients include rising junior Regan Wallace (psychology) and rising sophomores Jessica Anderson (undecided), Emily Archuleta (undecided), Payton Bell (undecided), Dayleigh Bos (undecided), Meli Coats (undecided), Finley Schoenbeck (undecided) and Charlotte Strabel (undecided).
