Colorado College used a dominant third quarter and a balanced scoring attack to roll past Dallas, 74–49, on Saturday afternoon at Reid Arena.
Junior
Isa Nelson enjoyed a career-tying performance from beyond the arc, knocking down five three-pointers to match her personal best and finishing with a season-high 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting. The 19 points match her career high.
Nelson went 5-for-7 from deep and added three assists as the Tigers stretched the floor and built separation in the second half.
Freshman
Rayna Welsch followed Nelson with 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting while pulling down seven rebounds, and Senior
Kayla Mackel added nine points, four steals and three assists to fuel CC's transition game.
Naiya Kurnik controlled the glass with six rebounds, while Illiana Greene chipped in eight points off the bench.
CC led 36–23 at the half and then broke the game open in the third quarter, outscoring the Crusaders 25–12. The Tigers shot 62.5 percent from the floor in the period and went 5-for-7 from three-point range, with Nelson burying a pair of triples during a decisive run that pushed the lead past 20.
Defensively, CC forced 16 turnovers and held Dallas to 32.2 percent shooting for the game, limiting the Crusaders to just seven points in the opening quarter and never allowing them closer than double digits the rest of the way.
The Tigers also owned the paint (40–22), second-chance points (15–2), and fast-break scoring (11–4), controlling the tempo on both ends as they improved to 9–4 overall and 4–0 in conference play with the wire-to-wire victory.
CC is on the road next week at Hendrix College on Friday, Jan 16, in Conway, Arkansas.
