Colorado College goes on a SCAC road trip this weekend to take on Hendrix College on Friday, Jan. 16, at 7:00 p.m. MT and the University of the Ozarks on Sunday, Jan. 18th at 1 p.m. MT.
The Tigers (9-4) are winners of four straight and are undefeated in conference play.
Last Time Out
CC downed Austin College 58-47 and the University of Dallas 74-49 at Reid Arena last weekend. On Friday against the 'Roos, the Tigers held the opposition to 29.8 percent shooting from the field and just 11.1 percent from three-point range (2-of-18), while finishing with a 41–41 tie on the glass and forcing 17 turnovers. CC went 24-of-30 at the free-throw line (80.0 percent) and outscored Austin 18–11 in the fourth quarter to pull away late.
Freshman
Rayna Welsch led the Tigers with 14 points and six rebounds, while senior
Kayla Mackel added 12 points and seven boards and freshman
Iliana Greene chipped in 13 points.
Two days later, against the Crusaders, junior
Isa Nelson enjoyed a career-tying performance from beyond the arc, knocking down five three-pointers to match her personal best and finishing with a season-high 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting. The 19 points match her career high.
Nelson went 5-for-7 from deep and added three assists as the Tigers stretched the floor and built separation in the second half.
Winning Streak
CC has won four-straight, dating back to Dec. 20 against Wartburg. On the streak, the Tigers have outscored their opponents 247-208 and outrebounded them 158-133.
Welsch is averaging 15.3 points and 7.8 rebounds per game on the streak.
Scouting The Opposition
Hendrix is 7-5 entering the weekend, with its most recent weekend consisting of a win over Concordia (TX) and a loss to Texas Lutheran. The Warriors joined the SCAC this year and are 3-1 in conference play so far.
Junior Riley Brady leads the team with 14.7 points and 18.7 rebounds per game, ranking 1st in the SCAC and 11th in the nation.
Ozarks is 5-8 this year and 0-4 in SCAC play. The Eagles fell last weekend to both Concordia (TX) and Texas Lutheran.
Junior Abby Beene leads the team with 15.9 ppg.
